Being healthy and surrounded by love are two things I never take for granted. I feel so extremely thankful my mom taught me to prioritize and work on my physical health. And I want to remind you how valuable and worthy this is. Also, I believe in the importance of preventive care as it helps us live longer and healthier lives and avoid life-threatening diseases. So, I appreciate that health screenings like Pap and HPV can be available to all women. The Pap test has been leading the fight against cervical cancer for decades. And did you know that before the introduction of the screening, cervical cancer was the number 1 cancer killer of women? Now, it’s number 14. But now proposed changes to the guidelines could eliminate the Pap leaving thousands of women vulnerable to incomplete testing and we can’t let that happen. We need to come together as a community and have a voice in the health guidelines to protect and improve our lives. For the health of all women, the Pap and HPV tests should remain a part of our routine wellness screening.
